Family Matters

Family Matters—The Annapolis County Family Resource Centre is a non-profit community-based organization that began operation in 1994 as a pilot project called the Community Action Program for Children (CAPC) funded through Health Canada.

Family Matters provides Annapolis County families with free early learning educational programs that promote early literacy and social development opportunities for pre-school children, as well as information and support to their parents and caregivers.  Although Family Matters primarily focuses on families with pre-school aged children, new programs are currently being introduced that expand the age group to include families with school aged children.

Family Matters' mission is to develop, administer, and deliver services that promote the health and well-being of young children and their parents, guardians, or caregivers in Annapolis County.

As a non-profit organization, Family Matters is run by a volunteer board of directors made up of a network of community partners, members and participating parents.  All programs and services are made possible by generous grants from the Public Health Agency of Canada, the Nova Scotia Department of Community Services, Annapolis County Family and Children's Services, and Family Learning Initiative Endowment Fund.
